Curatorial introduction

Line & Contour investigates how a lamp can be reduced to silhouette, rhythm and luminous edge. Ribbed surfaces, elongated structural lines, suspended enclosures and circular interruptions replace the conventional shade-and-base vocabulary. Light is used to articulate form and cast architecture onto surrounding walls rather than merely illuminate a room. The collection brings together pieces in which graphic line, repetition and negative space are as important as the light source itself, producing a precise and highly contemporary family of collectible lighting.
